Why Fish When You Can Ride?

Q & A -Wolfpack Horseback Rides

 Q. WHY RIDE WITH "THE PACK"?

       A. Wolfpack Outfitters is a family business that has offered

horseback rides near Ennis, Montana since 1998 - over 20+ years.

A2. Our focus is on QUALITY and HORSEMANSHIP.

A3.  We take 1-2 groups per day - so our horses, dogs and guides enjoy it!

A4. Rides are private and custom - we can accomodate all skill levels.

Q. WHY ARE WOLFPACK RIDES DIFFERENT?

      A. All rides are PRIVATE and CUSTOMIZED.

A2.  Horses and saddles are matched to rider's skill level and body type.

A3.  We trailer the horses to a mountain trail - so you won't meet us at the barn to ride the same "old trail" -  you truly ride Montana's scenic mountains.

A4. We don't have a horse or saddle that we would not ride ourselves.

Q.  CAN I CALL TODAY AND RIDE THE SAME DAY?

       A. NO.  Advanced reservations / min. 24-Hour notice required.

A2.  Subject to availability. We book up -- CALL/ PLAN AHEAD.

Q.  HOW LONG IS THE RIDE?

      A. Rides are 2-3 hours of actual saddle time.

A2. Plan on the activity taking 4+ hours ( with travel , paperwork, etc.)

A3. We take a snack/break so you can stretch or take a rest.

Q.  WHAT TIME DOES THE RIDE START?

      A.  Usually rides start between 8:30 - 10 am.  Time is picked by you.

A2.  Our entire day is booked for your group so we can adjust for your schedule, travel, or weather delays (rain, heat, snow, cold, etc).

Q.  CAN  BEGINNING OR ADVANCED RIDERS BE MIXED TOGETHER?

      A. Our rides are setup  to accommodate your group so if you have a 1st time rider and an advanced horse owner - we will make it fun for both.

A2. Our guides will help and give instruction.  We request detailed  rider info (name, age, ht/wt , and skill level)  to better match horse and rider.

Q.  Is there a WEIGHT LIMIT or AGE LIMIT for kids?

      A.  Children must be at least 6 years old.

A2.  As for weight - please think about your physicality and your ability. Can you safely get on/off a horse in the backcountry wilderness? The  also saddle weighs 40 lbs.  For this reason, riders should weigh 250 lbs or less.

A3. For YOUR SAFETY - please disclose any allergies, medical or physical conditions ... we will be in the backcounty with only a first aid kit.

Q. IS THERE FOOD OR DRINKS?

     A.  EACH rider receives a bottle of water and a quart-size "snackbag" with ranch raised beef stick,  cheese, fresh fruit, nuts, granola bar, etc. Drinks available after the ride.  There is a saddle bag if you want to bring your own .

Q.  WHAT SHOULD I BRING? DO I NEED BOOTS?

       A. There are saddlebags for items- snack, water, phone/camera,

chapstick, bugspray, car keys, wallet, etc.

A2. Boots or smooth soles are preferred.  If you only have tennis shoes or hiking shoes we will give you special instruction. NO SANDLES or OPEN TOES.                   A3. Dress in layers - shirt sleeve shirt,  long-sleeve, sweatshirt or jacket...

A4.  Jeans.  NO SHORTS.  There may be horseflies or tree limbs.

        A5.  Don't forget a sports bra -- LOL!

Q. WHY SET THE TIME AND TRAILHEAD 24-72 HOURS PRIOR TO THE RIDE?

       A.  It's Montana. RELAX.

A2. Our rides take place on forest service, BLM and ungroomed wilderness trails.  Conditions change due to weather, fire, bear activity, etc. We might need to adjust for safety, scenic or weather related reasons.

Q. WHAT SHOULDN'T I ASK OR DO?

      A. Don't ask to ride double, smoke, vape, wear shorts  or open-toe shoes.

A2. Don't ask if the ride is scenic - its Montana!!  It's Big Sky Country! We

wouldn't be in business if we rode thru mine waste or beetle kill trees.

A3. Don't ask to lope or ride like Rip in Yellowstone... or we will take you to the train station (LOL).   Kidding aside - we have a horse named Rip.

A4. Ask me to repeat  these questions on the phone because you didn't read this Q&A page.
